“Listening lets the heart speak.”
Our intention to offer good quality listening in a spirit of compassion and trustworthiness underpins our therapeutic work. We are Diana Eastman and Nigel Parratt, senior accredited counsellors/psychotherapists, members of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. We are based in Totnes, Devon.
Our experience covers working with a range of issues including relationships, bereavement, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, stress, employment, carer’s issues, living with long-term illness or disability, and couples counselling (any sexuality).
Central to our way of working is the person-centred approach developed by Carl Rogers. At the heart of this approach is the idea that if a person is offered empathy and unconditional acceptance by a therapist who they can trust as a genuine, open human being then they will be helped both in the relief of their distress and in their own personal growth and well-being.
Our aim is to listen as carefully as we can to your experience in order to understand what your life is like from your point of view. It is important that we do this without making any judgments or assumptions about you. Hopefully, as you talk about yourself in a confidential setting, you will gain new insights and self-awareness which will help you to bring about change and make choices in your life that are good for you and for the people you care about.
In addition to individual therapy we offer couple counselling, supervision, mentoring and telephone counselling. Please click on ‘Services’ above to find out more. Clicking on ‘Who we are’ will take you to a page with more information about us as individuals. Alternatively you can telephone us on 01803 813876.
