COUNSELLING/PSYCHOTHERAPY
At the initial session you can meet with the counsellor of your choice and get a feel for how he or she works. You can ask any questions you might have and say something about why you feel counselling would help you. You can then decide whether or not to continue with further sessions.
Sessions usually last for one hour and are arranged on a weekly basis. This does not always suit everyone so we are willing to be flexible about length and frequency of sessions. Each person is unique so it is difficult to predict how many sessions someone will require. However, there may be reasons (e.g. finances, time constraints, imminent life changes) where opting for a limited number of sessions is appropriate and this possibility can be discussed at your first, or any subsequent, sessions.
TELEPHONE COUNSELLING
Both Diana and Nigel are happy to offer telephone counselling to clients who are not able to access our premises, or who prefer this way of working.
COUPLE COUNSELLING
Diana has a wide experience of working with couples. “I see my role as facilitating a dialogue between two people where they can begin to speak what has been unspoken and hear each other afresh. My hope is that their relationship will be healed in some way by this process and that they can then come to agreement about what direction to take in their lives, together or apart”.
SUPERVISION
Nigel has been supervising individuals and groups in a range of settings for nearly twenty years. “As a natural progression I undertook further training to supervise therapists and counsellors to deepen and expand my supervision skills. With the person-centred approach as the basis of the supervisory relationship my intention is to offer creative, challenging, supportive supervision that contributes to therapist/client safety, well-being and development. Client and “clinical” issues, contextual/agency issues, support, learning and professional development matters form the common core of most sessions. However, I like to encourage wide and full use of a process that I value highly. I also have experience of supervising counselling course students, both on and off course, and welcome the opportunity to work with counsellors in training.”
MENTORING
Diana and Nigel both have experience in mentoring people working in the voluntary and statutory sector. Please telephone us on 01803 813876 for more information about our approach to mentoring.
