I have been working in private practice since gaining my Plymouth University Counselling Diploma in 2000. As part of my continuing professional development I went on to gain a BSc with the Open University. I enjoy working with both individuals and couples and think my previous work as a Citizens Advice Bureau worker, volunteer counsellor and freelance trainer has given me valuable experience in working with people from a wide range of backgrounds. As well as private work I am an affiliate with Right Corecare Employee Assistance Programme and with Torbay Care Trust’s Emotional Support Scheme for Carers.

Things I enjoy in life are: walking with Nigel and our dog on Dartmoor and the South Devon Coast Path, music, holidays, reading, gardening and being with my family and friends.

Listening to people has been central to my life for over thirty years. I worked for the Citizens Advice Bureaux Service as an advice worker, manager and trainer between 1977 and 1998. Following that I became a free-lance trainer and facilitator specialising in developing people skills in the voluntary sector and trained as a counsellor/psychotherapist, qualifying in June 2000.

Between 2001 and 2006 I taught on two University accredited Counselling Certificates and on a University and BACP accredited Counselling Diploma.

Since attaining BACP counsellor/psychotherapist accreditation in June 2003 I have focussed on my work as a therapist as well as moving on to supervising other therapists.

As well as private therapy I work as an affiliate with Employee Assistance Programmes and with Torbay Care Trust’s Emotional Support Scheme for Carers.

I look after myself by, amongst other things, walking with Diana and our dog, practising yoga and meditation, reading novels, going to music events and festivals, riding an old Italian motor cycle and sailing an even older Mirror dinghy.
